The Silk District is an ongoing residential development in Whitechapel named after the domestic weaving industry that was on the site from the 17th century.
J S Wright was responsible for designing and fitting out the M&E services for the first phase of the development, comprising a total of 412 homes and communal space in two buildings of 20 floors and seven floors respectively. The amenities it also serviced included a workspace, cinema room, gym and 24-hour concierge.
Mechanical Installations:
- Mains cold water supply to central basement plantroom with distribution pipework to apartments
- Boosted cold water-water systems including pipework and boosted cold water feed to apartment HIUs to serve domestic appliances
- Gas-fired boilers and CHP unit in energy centre including LTHW heating system pumps and pipework to apartment HIUs for domestic hot water service and underfloor heating or radiators
- Mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems serving apartments and resident amenities
- Smoke and environmental ventilation services
- Underground car park ventilation
- Above ground drainage
- Internal rainwater system
- Domestic sprinklers fed by boosted cold water systems
- Wet and dry risers in all areas
- Sanitaryware and brassware installations
- Building Management System controls

- Access control and door entry systems to all areas
