Harbour Central is a spectacular residential development in London’s Docklands, comprising 642 luxury private apartments spread across five buildings.

The 42-storey Maine Tower, the largest of the buildings, has a total of 299 highly specified apartments ranging from studios to penthouses. Harbour Central’s leisure complex includes a residents’ club with a library, concierge, gym and spa, business suites and a cinema.

J S Wright was responsible for installing, testing and commissioning the mechanical engineering infrastructure for the development, as well as completing the fit-out of the mechanical services for the Maine Tower and the M&E services for the amenity and club areas.

Mechanical Installations – Shell and Core

  • Natural gas supply from gas meter room to basement energy centre

  • LTHW communal heating system incorporating a combined heat and power (CHP) unit and five condensing boilers

  • Roof-mounted air-cooled and basement water-cooled chilled water systems

  • Cold water storage tanks and booster sets

  •  Mechanical ventilation systems for plantrooms

  • Car park and smoke ventilation services

  • Above ground drainage and rainwater harvesting systems

  • Wet and dry risers

Mechanical Installations – Apartments

  • LTHW distribution to each of the apartments via heat interface units for domestic hot water services and underfloor heating
  • Comfort cooling through fan coil units connected to main infrastructure chilled water main plant
  • Domestic water services including boosted cold water
  • Whole house ventilation systems incorporating heat recovery
  • Commercial sprinklers to car park and landlord areas
