Former Honiton Inn

The former Honiton Inn in Exeter has been redeveloped as student accommodation. The new eight-storey building in the city centre comprises 120 flexible apartments along with communal facilities including kitchens, a laundry room, café bar, administration office, and cycle storage.

J S Wright was responsible for designing, installing, testing, and commissioning the mechanical and electrical services for all the apartments and amenities.

Mechanical Installations

• Mains cold water installations
• Low pressure hot water (LPHW) heating incorporating gas-firedcondensing boilers
• Domestic hot and cold-water services, including boosted cold water, for all apartments

• Natural gas installation

• General supply and extract mechanical ventilation
• Extract MVHR for the kitchens and showers within all apartments
• Apartment residential sprinkler installations
• Dry risers
• Sanitaryware for all apartments
• Above ground drainage and internal rainwater systems
• Air conditioning split system for the comms room
• Building management system (BMS)

Electrical Installations

• Low-voltage (LV) switchboard with power and lighting distribution to individual apartments

• LV distribution boards and cabling serving power and lighting to communal areas

• External lighting to building

• Access control and door entry system

• CCTV to communal areas

• TV and data systems to all apartments

• Disabled refuge

• Lightning protection
